Every Dude Has Its Day

No one could have imagined on a seemingly ordinary March 6th 1998 that a modest comedy film’s release would spawn a lifestyle, a national day and even a religion. But The Big Lebowski did all these things. And so today is ‘The Day of the Dude’, where followers of ‘Dudeism’ and their acolytes celebrate by doing not very much at all, in deference to the film’s laid back main character, the eponymous Dude. Pants are optional, though dressing gowns are a must.
