Is the UK government withholding information about UFOs?
Out of the survey’s 1,500 respondents, more than half (54%) said they believe the UK government has information about the existence of aliens .
The British public have continued to lose faith in the government over the past few years, having felt misled over issues like Brexit, the pandemic, and alleged illegal Christmas quizzes. Now, according to a study commissioned by Sky HISTORY, there’s a general feeling that we might have been lied to about something else; alien activity on our shores.
Out of the survey’s 1,500 respondents, more than half (54%) said they believe the UK government has information about the existence of aliens and UFOs, which it’s withholding from the public. While there is no obvious epicentre for where this evidence could be hidden away, such as Area 51, people are curious about what the authorities really know.
The survey also found that a whopping two-thirds of people think aliens would head straight to London first if they were to visit the UK tomorrow. Other major cities like Cardiff, Birmingham, and Glasgow follow behind the capital (but not Todmorden) as the consensus suggests aliens would like to see the sights and take in some culture during their first visit.
However, as the first episode of Craig Charles: UFO Conspiracies investigated a potential sighting in the small Welsh village of Pentyrch, perhaps we shouldn’t just be focusing on the built-up areas when searching for extra-terrestrial life.
The series premiered on 11th January at 9pm as part of Sky HISTORY’s Mystery Season and follows long-time UFO enthusiast Craig and astrophysicist Sarah Cruddas as they scrutinise compelling evidence relating to some of the most perplexing UFO encounters of recent years. They reveal never before heard testimony to separate fact from fiction and ask: are the unexplained aerial phenomena prowling our skies extra-terrestrial?
Craig Charles is already a very popular figure among Sky HISTORY viewers, and many want to see him add astronaut to his already lengthy CV. Almost 40% of the survey’s participants voted for him to be blasted into space, ahead of Al Murray (19%) and Alice Roberts (14%). The question was inspired by William Shatner’s historic trip on the Blue Origin space shuttle in October. The 90-year-old flew to a peak altitude of approximately 66 miles, becoming the oldest person to visit space in the process.
Now firmly back on terra firma, William Shatner returns to our screens next month as season two of The UnXplained gets its UK premiere during Mystery Season. He explores some of the world’s most fascinating, strange, and unexplainable mysteries, such as how people survive the seemingly un-survivable or why the brain is even more powerful than we have ever dared to realise. Tune in immediately after the conclusion of Craig Charles: UFO Conspiracies.
Also coming up during Mystery Season is the latest instalment of The Curse of Oak Island. Season nine is set to be the biggest yet as the Lagina brothers bring more resources and technology than ever before as they strive to uncover what treasures lie beneath the surface. But what treasure could the money pit be hiding? Spanish gold is by far the most popular theory, with 40% of viewers making that their biggest prediction. 8% are putting their money on the Holy Grail, while 6% believe the Ark of the Covenant will eventually be uncovered.
At the end of last season, seismic testing revealed a potential sunken boat buried beneath the triangle-shaped swamp. This has led to 12% of Britons expecting a Viking ship to be eventually uncovered at the bottom of the enigmatic Money Pit. Watch The Curse of Oak Island Wednesdays at 9pm from 5 January 2022, only on Sky HISTORY.
