Lily Ebert, Holocaust survivor and Tiktok star, dies aged 100
Lily had spent the last few years educating a whole new generation about the horrors of the Holocaust.
Lily Ebert, the Holocaust survivor who shared her experiences of Auschwitz on TikTok, has sadly died at the age of 100.
Lily spent four months in Auschwitz before being sent to Germany where she was forced to work as a slave labourer in a munitions factory. She settled in Britain after the war and in recent years, with the help of her great-grandson, had been educating a whole new generation about the horrors of the Holocaust. Her videos, in which she answered questions and recounted stories from the war, reached hundreds of millions of people around the world.
Lily was made an MBE in 2023 and King Charles has paid tribute to her 'extraordinary resilience and courage' following her passing.
To remember her legacy, please watch the above interview she filmed with Sky HISTORY to mark Holocaust Memorial Day in 2022. In the video, Lily talks about her life before the war in Hungary and her experiences in Auschwitz-Birkenau.
