Bradley Walsh: Egypt's Cosmic Code
Available from Tuesday, 18th March
Bradley Walsh: Egypt's Cosmic Code charts Bradley Walsh's first trip to Egypt in search of answers to some of Ancient History's biggest mysteries - who built the pyramids, why and how? The series starts Tuesday, 18th March on Sky HISTORY.
At Sky HISTORY, we love a theory that makes you question everything. Not many spark curiosity – and controversy – quite like the Cosmic Code. A concept that suggests the universe, mathematics and even ancient monuments like the Pyramids of Egypt might all be linked through hidden patterns and knowledge.
Some call it a numbers game. Others see it as a blueprint for the universe, shaping history and even hinting at what’s to come.
Curious? Let’s explore the Cosmic Code, its origins and whether science backs the claims.
Physicist Heinz R. Pagels first used the term ‘Cosmic Code’ in his 1982 book, The Cosmic Code: Quantum Physics as the Language of Nature. His work explored the foundations of physics and quantum mechanics, highlighting the contributions of Albert Einstein, Max Planck and John Stewart Bell.
His work was founded purely in science, not ancient history or secret knowledge. But over time, the idea of a hidden 'code' in the universe took on a life of its own.
The Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the most studied structures in history. Like other historical monuments such as Stonehenge, the deeper experts examine its design, the stranger the details become.
Here’s a glimpse at some of the theories inspired by the Cosmic Code:
The pyramid’s dimensions come surprisingly close to encoding π (pi), a fundamental constant in mathematics.
One of the most controversial claims in Cosmic Code theories is that measurements related to the Great Pyramid of Giza match the speed of light. Here are the facts:
Coincidence? Probably. The metric system came about in the 18th century, long after the pyramids stood tall. For the ancient Egyptians to have encoded this number, they would have needed to predict modern units of measurement thousands of years ahead of time.
Some researchers claim that the pyramids at Giza align with Orion’s Belt.
It’s an interesting theory, yes. But many mainstream archaeologists debate this claim. The alignment isn’t exact, and many natural formations can resemble celestial patterns when viewed in hindsight.
Zecharia Sitchin, an author fascinated by ancient civilisations, pushed the idea of the Cosmic Code even further. In books like The Earth Chronicles series, he argued that early societies uncovered hidden knowledge long before modern science caught up.
Sitchin’s theory? Ancient astronauts and extraterrestrial beings passed down cosmic knowledge to early societies. They went on to encode it in monuments, sacred geometry and even religious texts.
The evidence, he claimed, was hiding in plain sight. In particular, Egyptian pyramids seem to follow mathematical patterns too precise to be accidental. Find out more in shows like Bradley Walsh: Egypt’s Cosmic Code.
Not everyone buys into the idea that the pyramids encode hidden messages. Most historians argue that ancient civilisations relied on trial, error and engineering expertise. Not secret cosmic blueprints.
That said, certain mysteries remain open-ended:
Even if the Cosmic Code isn’t real, patterns do exist in nature. The Fibonacci sequence appears in flowers, galaxies spiral in predictable formations and physics follows mathematical laws. Maybe ancient builders subconsciously reflected these universal patterns in their designs?
Is there a hidden language of the universe encoded in ancient monuments? Or are we just really good at spotting patterns and adding meaning where none exists?
For now, The Cosmic Code remains both a scientific fact and an open mystery. And this is exactly what makes it so fascinating! Whether it’s ancient wisdom or pure coincidence, one thing’s certain – history still has secrets waiting to be uncovered.
