Emperor Charles (Lothaire Bluteau)

The great ruler of the vast lands of the old Holy Roman Empire, Emperor Charlemagne, left his three grandsons in charge after his death. They divided the empire into three, and Charles took the Western part, with its centre in the ancient Roman city of Paris. Charles is a complex, troubled man, who is now confronted by the biggest challenge of his life: the appearance of a huge Viking fleet sailing up the Seine to attack the city. Only by defeating this great Pagan army can Charles live up to his heritage, and overcome his deepest fears.
