On this day:
Cup Of Tea Leaf
1966 has a warm place in every true English football fan’s heart, as that was the last time we actually won anything. But the delirious joy experienced at winning the World Cup nearly didn’t happen, as the Jules Rimet Trophy was stolen by bandits, brigands and undesirables from Westminster’s Central Hall prior to the tournament.
Thankfully it was soon found abandoned in someone’s garden by a dog called Pickles.
I mean, the dog found the trophy. He wasn’t the one that abandoned it. That would be ridiculous.
