Kim Jung-Un Becomes Supreme Leader
There isn’t a massive amount known about today’s historical figure. But we’ll do our best to fill in the blanks. It was on or around this day in 2011 (we can’t be that specific as they’re quite secretive over there) that Kim Jong-un became Supreme Leader of North Korea after the death of his father Kim Jong-il. His brother, Kim Jong-nam, had been thought to be favourite to get the Supreme Leader nod, but after he was caught attempting to enter Japan on a fake passport in order to visit Disneyland Tokyo, he fell from favour.
As it’s quite tricky to disseminate any actual facts about Kim Jong-un, we can share what the North Korean media have told us about him and his incredible skills. According to them, he was a child prodigy who could drive quite proficiently at the age of 3 and was winning yacht races aged 9. Oh and a former schoolfriend claims that he spent much of his youth drawing pictures of basketball star Michael Jordan. That one we believe.
